Application areas

Solar driven water purification

The example above shows how hot water, poor quality for drinking is taken from the hot water supply and circulated through the accumulator tank via the membrane cassette. Cooling is provided by the cooler water from the water mains. A small pump and third line to the sink complete the set-up.

Single-serving solutions

Singe-serving solutions

A. Unpurified water input

C. Mains electricty input
D. Air cooling outlet
E. Air intake

Homes that are served by hygienic water supplies may even want to add the extra purification dimension. We envisage single serving solutions being popular with health - conscious individuals throughout the developed world. This sketch shows how our smaller purification engine can be integrated into an air-cooled device serving about 0.75 liters of ultra-pure water.

Counter-top solutionsMembran distillation water purifier

Counter -top solutions, either self fill or connected to the water mains, offer the convenience of easy installation and use. Our prototype, Elixir, can produce more than the daily drinking waer requirements of a family of four.

Air heat exchanger water heaters

In the sketch above, a heat exchanger that extracts heat from the air to heat water is driving a water purification engine that feeds a third line at the sink.

Purification engines integrated into home appliances

We envisage membrane distillation engines being integrated into small household appliances like coffee machines. Regardless of the raw water used, you will get a perfect cup every time.

Office solutions

By connecting our membrane distillation solutions to floor-standing air conditioners we can use the waste heat extracted from the air to drive the water purification process – and use the cooling effect to bring cool, ultra pure drinking water to the office.
